In July 2026, a green "steel giant" bearing the inscription "Taiyuan Heavy Industry" was steadily processing large chunks of ore at a major overseas iron mine. Independently developed and manufactured by Taiyuan Heavy Industry Group (TZ), the 3000 t/h gyratory semi-mobile crushing station has been operating stably for four full months at the overseas mine, earning high praise from the project owner: "Efficiency far exceeds expectations, energy savings are remarkable, and intelligent operation makes it easier to manage."
The successful deployment of this equipment overseas has filled a technological gap in China's small and medium-sized semi-mobile crushing station sector. This core competitiveness, which has enabled it to go global, stems from TZ's breakthrough research in two key core technologies.
Long-Term Reliance on Imports for Small and Medium-Sized Semi-Mobile Crushing Stations
In open-pit mining, primary crushing is a critical link determining the efficiency of the entire mining system. Semi-mobile crushing stations combine the stability of fixed stations with the flexibility of mobile stations, making them core equipment for semi-continuous mining processes in large open-pit mines. However, for a long time, there has been a significant technological gap in China's small and medium-sized semi-mobile crushing station sector—especially in the processing capacity range of 2000 to 5000 t/h, where domestic equipment has been largely absent, forcing mining enterprises to rely on imported equipment.
Imported equipment not only involves high procurement costs but also faces prominent issues such as long spare parts supply cycles, slow after-sales service response, and dependence on foreign core technologies. Enhancing the technical level and equipment capability of domestic semi-mobile crushing stations has become an urgent need to ensure the security of China's mineral resource supply chain.
Breakthroughs in Two Core Technologies Forge the Strength of Domestic Equipment
TZ's independently developed 3000 t/h gyratory semi-mobile crushing station has achieved disruptive innovations in two core areas: vibration control and drive systems.
Breakthrough 1: Vibration Control Reaches Internationally Advanced Levels
Vibration stability is the fundamental basis for the long-term performance of large crushing equipment. Large gyratory crushers endure immense impact loads during operation, and vibration control directly determines the equipment's reliability, lifespan, and safety.
TZ's R&D team has delved into structural optimization and precision assembly processes. Through finite element static and dynamic analysis and optimized design, they adopted reinforced steel structures to strictly control the overall operating amplitude to levels surpassing national standards, effectively reducing equipment operational losses. The overall vibration resistance of the machine has reached internationally advanced levels, laying a reliable foundation for long-term, high-intensity continuous operation.
Breakthrough 2: Industry-First Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Technology Saves Approximately 350,000 RMB in Electricity Costs Annually
In terms of energy saving and consumption reduction, TZ has achieved a disruptive innovation in the discharge system—pioneering the application of permanent magnet direct drive conveyor technology to the equipment's discharge belt conveyor.
Traditional discharge systems use a multi-stage transmission structure of "motor + reducer + coupling," which involves numerous intermediate links, high friction losses, and high failure rates. TZ has, for the first time, introduced permanent magnet direct drive technology meeting the crushing discharge process into semi-mobile crushing stations, eliminating intermediate transmission friction energy consumption and achieving direct drive from the motor to the belt conveyor.
Compared to traditional transmission structures, energy consumption is significantly reduced—saving approximately 350,000 RMB in electricity costs per year. At the same time, the equipment failure rate has also dropped substantially, with qualitative improvements in operational stability and ease of later-stage maintenance. Combining modern design theory and engineering intelligent optimization methods, TZ has developed a "discrete-continuous medium" multidisciplinary modeling and collaborative optimization strategy, achieving precise matching between overall station layout and details, as well as design parameters and key performance indicators.
"Real-World Performance" in Peru's Coastal High-Humidity, High-Salt Environment
The application scenario for this 3000 t/h gyratory semi-mobile crushing station is located at a large iron mine on the coast of Peru. This region has a typical tropical maritime climate, with high humidity, high salt content, and strong corrosive conditions placing extremely high demands on the anti-corrosion capability and operational reliability of large equipment.
To address these special working conditions, TZ customized a full set of high-end anti-corrosion coating processes, building a comprehensive rust protection system for the entire machine. The equipment is equipped with a full intelligent linkage control system, enabling autonomous coordinated operation of the entire crushing line, and readily adapting to the all-weather, high-load harsh operating environment of overseas mines.
Feedback from the project owner: The crushing station's efficiency far exceeds expectations, energy savings are remarkable, and intelligent operation makes it easier to manage. This equipment can crush and process 3000 tons of ore per hour, clearing the material from 30 hundred-ton mining trucks in just one hour.
From Filling a Gap to Going Global
Vast market potential: China's small and medium-sized semi-mobile crushing station sector previously had a long-standing technological gap. The successful R&D and overseas application of TZ's 3000 t/h gyratory semi-mobile crushing station not only fills this gap but also provides a mature technical solution and engineering validation for the domestic substitution of similar Chinese equipment.
Replicable and scalable technology: TZ has formed a series of semi-mobile crushing station product matrices with power coverage for different processing capacities. Previously, TZ customized and produced a semi-mobile gyratory crushing station for Tibet's Julong Copper Mine, which operates successfully at an altitude of 5300 meters on the "Roof of the World." Its independently developed largest-capacity jaw-type semi-mobile crushing station (930 t/h) in China has also completed installation and commissioning at the world's highest-altitude Huoshaoyun lead-zinc mining area. From high-altitude, cold regions to coastal high-humidity, high-salt environments, TZ's crushing stations have proven their reliability and adaptability under extreme conditions.
Supporting "Smart Mine" construction: The full intelligent linkage control system equipped on this equipment enables autonomous coordinated operation of the crushing line. Combined with TZ's previously signed multiple crushing station projects, its "one-stop" mining solutions are accelerating their journey abroad and onto the global stage.
From Import Dependence to Independent Global Reach
A single crushing powerhouse bears witness to TZ's commitment to deep engagement in industry and independent breakthroughs. From relying on imports to achieving independent global reach, the success of TZ's 3000 t/h gyratory semi-mobile crushing station is not just the export of a piece of equipment, but a comprehensive output of China's technical standards and manufacturing capabilities for high-end mining equipment.
As China's professional and most comprehensive R&D and manufacturing institution for complete open-pit mining equipment, TZ Group is a supplier of complete crushing and conveying systems for large open-pit mines in China, capable of designing and manufacturing complete sets of equipment for fully continuous and semi-continuous mining processes. Over the past five years, the annual planned production capacity of TZ's equipment products has increased from 1 million tons to over 3 million tons, achieving "five consecutive increases" in revenue and "five consecutive increases" in profit.
In the future, TZ will continue to deeply cultivate high-end intelligent mining equipment, launching more benchmark intelligent manufacturing products to make the Chinese brand renowned worldwide.
