Recently, the Yanwei 1000 kV ultra-high voltage (UHV) project, participated in by PowerChina, completed the installation of the final section of conductors, marking the full connection of the country's first provincial UHV double-ring network in Shandong. Once operational, this project will further optimize the national energy strategic layout and promote the transformation of Shandong's energy structure.

As one of the world's first UHV projects serving nuclear power transmission and a key component of the country's first provincial UHV "double-ring network," the Yanwei 1000 kV UHV project, upon completion and operation, will form a "sun-shaped" UHV AC double-ring network, making the power grid more stable in operation and more flexible in power transmission and configuration. It will become a critical channel for the transmission of new energy from the Jiaodong Peninsula.

The construction scope of this project includes the construction of one new 1000 kV switching station, the expansion of two 1000 kV substations, the construction of 1,197 km of new 1000 kV lines, and the erection of 2,124 towers. It passes through five cities: Yantai, Qingdao, Rizhao, Weifang, and Linyi. This is the country's first UHV project to simultaneously construct "across mountains and seas," advancing construction under the dual complex conditions of mountainous and marine environments. Units including PowerChina's Hubei Engineering Company and Hebei Electric Power Design & Research Institute participated in the construction.

After the project is officially put into operation, it will further improve the structure of Shandong's UHV AC power grid, enhance the ability to withstand severe system faults, significantly increase the green power supply capacity within Shandong Province, and effectively drive the transformation of the Jiaodong Peninsula from a "power receiving end" to a "power sending end," injecting strong momentum into Shandong's green energy transition and high-quality development.
