On July 30, China's first 100-ton-class pure electric bidirectional autonomous mining truck was successfully put into operation at the South Open-Pit Mine of State Power Investment Corporation Inner Mongolia Company. With a rated load capacity of 136 tons, this truck integrates three major technological breakthroughs—pure electric drive, bidirectional travel, and autonomous driving—and is primarily used for coal and rock transportation in open-pit mines. This marks another breakthrough for China in the intelligent, electric, and domestically produced heavy-load transport equipment for large open-pit mines.

At the production site of the South Open-Pit Mine in Holingol City, Inner Mongolia, this newly launched mining truck is smoothly shuttling and operating under heavy load within the mining area. Equipped with an advanced autonomous driving system, the truck achieves a fully closed-loop operation process encompassing automatic loading, autonomous travel, and precise unloading, fundamentally eliminating risks associated with human operation and significantly enhancing the intrinsic safety level of the mine. In terms of power, the truck completely abandons traditional diesel engines, adopting a customized pure electric drive system to achieve zero emissions in the transportation process, effectively addressing the pain points of high fuel consumption and high pollution. To meet the high-intensity operational demands of the mining area, the truck employs an integrated "charging and battery-swapping" technology, paired with semi-solid-state power batteries, overcoming the bottleneck of long refueling wait times for electric heavy trucks. Additionally, thanks to its 4×4 all-wheel steering and bidirectional travel architecture, the truck eliminates the need for wide-radius turns, offering greater maneuverability in confined spaces and significantly improving turnaround efficiency.

Based on operational data, the energy consumption cost per unit of output is 65% lower than that of traditional diesel dump trucks of the same tonnage, the continuous operating endurance of a single vehicle is no less than 6 hours, and the comprehensive equipment availability rate exceeds 85%, fully meeting the high-intensity, all-weather production demands of open-pit mines."
