On August 11, the world's largest impulse hydropower unit successfully completed its rotor hoisting at the Datang Zhala Hydropower Station, marking China's core technology in ultra-high-head, large-capacity impulse hydropower equipment as leading globally, and strongly boosting the construction of the clean energy base in southeastern Tibet.

The Datang Zhala Hydropower Station is a key project of the national "Tibet Power Transmission" initiative, equipped with two 500 MW impulse units, making it the largest single-unit capacity equipment of its kind globally. As the first (set) major technical equipment in China's energy sector, it features technical advantages such as high altitude, high head, and large capacity.

The rotor hoisted this time is the "power heart" of the generator unit for energy conversion. Weighing approximately 840 tons, it is equivalent to the total weight of 560 family sedans. Its successful installation marks the project's entry into the final sprint phase before commissioning.

Once the station is fully operational, it will generate nearly 4 billion kWh of clean green electricity annually, saving 1.3 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3.42 million tons.
