Performance: This drawworks is rated at 720,000 lbs (720 kips) maximum hook load on twelve (12), 1-3/8” drill lines, and 610,000 lbs (610 kips) maximum hook load on ten (10) lines. Drum: The drum is 56” in diameter and has Lebus grooving for 1-3/8” wireline. The drum is shaft mounted between spherical roller bearings that are bolted to the drawworks frame. The drum is direct driven through a single gear reduction of 10.5 to 1 ratio. Pinions are mounted directly to the motor shaft to reduce the overall size and weight of the gear set. The AC drilling motors are directly coupled to the main drum shaft, providing continuous operation without the use of transmissions or clutches. Service/Dynamic Braking: Normal service braking is performed by the AC motors by generating power into braking resistors. The motors and frequency drives are capable of holding full load at zero speed indefinitely. Load speed is limited by the control system to stay within the capacity of the motors. NOTE: The SSGD-360 drawworks requires full regenerative braking from the AC frequency drive system. Park/Emergency Brakes: The drawworks is equipped with a single 96.5” OD air cooled disc on the off-driller’s side with three (3) NOV Model 132-455-14 self adjusting, fail safe, hydraulic operated calipers. Local brake controls on the drawworks allow the load to be manually lowered using the brake calipers. The brakes are normally spring applied and hydraulically released, in emergency situations they can also be hydraulically applied. An electronic interface to the drawworks controls is included to allow automatic brake activation for any fault whether failure or operator error.
