This allocation is part of a broader budget of ₹59.21 billion for the PWD and ₹78.87 billion for the Urban Development Department. The funds are intended for the "comprehensive" reconstruction of the PWD's 1,400 km network, with construction on 500 km of roads already initiated last year. Specific road construction projects include: ₹1 billion each for the expansion of the Mukarba Chowk underpass and the Barwala-National Highway 1 elevated road, along with funding for projects at Barapullah (₹21 billion), the doubling of the Savitri Cinema flyover and the Modi Mill-Kalkaji stretch (₹15 billion), the expansion of the Najafgarh flyover (₹4.54 billion), and the Mangal Pandey Marg underpass (₹9.9 billion). These road construction projects aim to improve traffic efficiency at Delhi's major transport junctions.
