en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian spice exports have remained relatively resilient at the start of the 2025-26 fiscal year, with stable overseas demand for cumin, turmeric, and coriander supporting shipments to key markets.

According to trade estimates, India exported spices worth over US$4.4 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year, with total shipments exceeding 1.5 million tonnes. Exporters indicated that despite global demand uncertainty and fluctuating freight rates, demand from China, the UAE, Bangladesh, the US, and Southeast Asia remained stable in the first quarter of FY 2025-26.

Exports received support after domestic cumin prices corrected sharply from last year's historical highs. In 2024, cumin prices had once surged above Rs 300 per kg due to tight supply, but market prices in Rajasthan and Gujarat have since retreated to around Rs 180-220 per kg following improved production and increased arrivals this season. Traders noted that the price correction has improved India's export competitiveness and rekindled buying interest from China and Gulf markets.

Turmeric exports also showed a steady trend, supported by sustained demand from the food processing and health supplement industries. In the first half of 2025, spot turmeric prices in Nizamabad and Sangli mainly traded between Rs 13,000-17,000 per quintal, depending on quality and curcumin content, with exporters reporting stable inquiries from the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, coriander exports remained moderate but stable, supported by ample supplies from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and sustained procurement from Gulf destinations.

Market participants expect Indian spice exports to remain stable in FY 2025-26, but ample domestic supply and weak global consumption are likely to keep prices largely range-bound in the near term.
