en.Wedoany.com Reported - Suriname telecom operator Telesur has selected Squire Technologies to replace its existing Ribbon SBC as part of its network transformation. Telesur provides fiber broadband, 4G LTE, and 5G services to businesses and users in Suriname and is currently transitioning into a digital platform, expanding into fintech, cloud computing, and data services. The new agreement with Squire Technologies will enable Telesur to enhance its B2B and residential operations through VoIP services.
To achieve complete SIP routing and interconnection, Squire Technologies will deliver a Ribbon SBC replacement solution via its voice platform Vozi. This platform integrates the functionalities of Squire's SBC, SSR (SIP Session Router), and C5 softswitch, unifying analog and digital VoIP solutions, and provides SSR capabilities through a built-in MGC (Media Gateway Controller) to control third-party gateways via the MGCP protocol.
The MGC will facilitate the migration of analog customers to SIP, while the C5 softswitch will support new B2B VoIP services. The combination of SBC SIP interconnection and C5 VoIP services enables Telesur to sell its own VoIP retail services, thereby opening new revenue streams. In recent years, Suriname's economy has experienced significant fluctuations, with its major exports such as oil and gold being vulnerable to global price volatility. However, investments in digital infrastructure are driving economic diversification into other sectors.
Telesur is providing resources to advance healthcare, education, employment, and sustainable development initiatives, and is extending connectivity to remote areas through 75 solar-powered sites, positioning itself as a champion of sustainable connectivity. Network enhancements mean that Surinamese people can access financial services from remote areas, narrowing the digital divide. Telesur CEO Doric Ramlakhan stated: "In recent years, we have worked to expand coverage to hard-to-reach areas, enhancing digital inclusion. This project continues our commitment to ensuring customers derive maximum benefit from their connectivity."
