en.Wedoany.com Reported - NVIDIA announced that Europe is currently developing 35 new AI supercomputers, marking the largest single-year expansion of AI and high-performance computing infrastructure in the region's history. These systems span national supercomputing centers in 23 countries, the EuroHPC AI Factories, academic institutions, and research organizations. According to NVIDIA, this deployment will provide advanced AI computing resources to over 3 million researchers working in fields such as climate science, healthcare, clean energy, quantum computing, and fundamental scientific research.

The new systems are primarily based on NVIDIA's Blackwell and Hopper architectures. Since 2025, Europe has deployed or announced cumulative AI computing power exceeding 800 AI exaflops. NVIDIA stated that its technology underpins over 90% of AI factory projects in Europe. These deployments combine NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and GB200 NVL4 systems with NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand networking, CUDA-X software libraries, NIM microservices, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, supporting AI model training, simulation, inference, and agentic AI workloads.

The announcement, made during the ISC High Performance 2026 conference in Hamburg, also highlighted Europe's growing investment in hybrid quantum-classical computing. Leading research institutions, including CINECA, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Fraunhofer FOKUS, and the Jülich Supercomputing Centre, are integrating NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform to connect quantum processors with classical supercomputers. NVIDIA also mentioned new AI-driven initiatives in climate modeling, biomedical research, hydrogen energy systems, fusion research, and carbon capture technologies.

Specific projects include: The EuroHPC AI Factory at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center will expand MareNostrum 5, equipping it with NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and GB200 NVL4 systems connected via Quantum-X800 InfiniBand, targeting approximately 20 AI exaflops of training compute and 33 AI exaflops of inference compute. BavariaAI's Blue Swan project will deploy 1,000 GPUs at Friedrich-Alexander University and the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre facilities, providing up to 11 AI exaflops of training compute and 22 AI exaflops of inference compute. Italy's IT4LIA AI Factory will deploy over 8,000 GPUs using NVIDIA GB200 NVL4 systems, offering 82 AI exaflops of training compute and 164 AI exaflops of inference compute. Germany's HammerHAI AI Factory will deploy over 850 GPUs, providing approximately 8 AI exaflops of training compute and 15 AI exaflops of inference compute. Sweden's Mimer AI Factory at Linköping University will deploy 400 NVIDIA GPUs, offering approximately 4 AI exaflops of training compute and 7 AI exaflops of inference compute.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI is a new tool for science, and Europe is building the infrastructure to put it into the hands of millions of researchers. With NVIDIA accelerated computing, researchers can simulate more complex systems, train scientific AI models, and build agentic AI workflows, turning Europe's data and expertise into breakthroughs that benefit the world.
