en.Wedoany.com Reported - Petroecuador officially commenced production operations at the new well ACAL-245HUI in the Auca Oil Field (Campo Auca) on July 7, 2026. The well has an initial output of 3,181 barrels of crude oil per day, and is expected to generate approximately $5.2 million in additional monthly revenue for Ecuador's national treasury, with cumulative revenue estimated at around $31.59 million for the remainder of 2026.
Located within the Auca Oil Field assets in Ecuador's eastern rainforest region, the new well has a total drilled depth of 14,800 feet (approximately 4,511 meters), including a 2,667-foot (approximately 813-meter) horizontal navigation section, which helps optimize subsurface crude oil recovery and enhance extraction efficiency. To address demanding technical conditions, the well employs an S4000N-type electric submersible pump system (ESP) to maximize production. The crude oil produced has an API gravity of 17.6 degrees, classifying it as heavy crude.

The Auca Oil Field currently maintains a production level of 64,000 barrels per day. Over the past two months, the field has consistently contributed to Ecuador's national oil production. At the end of May 2026, another well in the field, AUCA-141H, commenced operations and is currently producing 2,400 barrels per day. Additionally, the field plans to conduct three hydraulic fracturing operations, which are expected to increase daily output by approximately 1,200 barrels.
Petroecuador is Ecuador's state-owned oil company, responsible for the exploration, extraction, transportation, refining, and marketing of the country's petroleum resources. The commissioning of this new well is part of a series of strategic actions by the Ecuadorian government to boost domestic oil and gas production. Petroecuador reaffirms its commitment to optimizing operations, efficiently utilizing natural resources, and creating value for the nation.
