en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the "Uttar Pradesh Data Center Policy 2026," aiming to establish the state as a green and artificial intelligence (AI)-ready data center hub. The new policy replaces the previous one, which expired in January this year, and plans to attract investments exceeding INR 2 trillion while adding 2 gigawatts (GW) of data center capacity.

The government stated that the policy aims to strengthen digital infrastructure, encourage innovation, and support the state in becoming a globally competitive technology destination. Additional incentives are provided for projects set up in the Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions.
The Minister of Information Technology and Electronics stated that the policy places special emphasis on graphics processing unit (GPU)-based infrastructure, energy-efficient facilities, and sustainable operations. It includes incentives for Tier III and Tier IV data centers, support for AI computing accelerators, and benefits for green data center operations.
The policy is expected to create approximately 7,500 long-term direct jobs and nearly 50,000 short-term positions during the construction phase. The government anticipates that information technology and IT-enabled enterprises will develop around these facilities, opening new opportunities for investment and innovation.
Under the 2021 version of the data center policy, the state has seen seven projects become operational across six approved data center parks and two independent units, involving investments of approximately INR 213.43 billion. The new policy aims to sustain this momentum, attract more technology companies, and expand digital infrastructure across the state.
