During the discussions, both parties identified priority areas for cooperation, primarily including integrating the national identity system with the SIM card verification process, promoting the responsible application of artificial intelligence, strengthening the data protection legal framework, and expanding the scale of digital skills training for youth.
The participants also explored the possibility of jointly implementing projects aimed at providing digital skills training to secondary school students, building on existing initiatives funded by the MACRA Universal Service Fund. The two institutions stated that the proposed cooperation would enhance overall digital literacy while helping young people better seize opportunities arising from the country's growing digital economy.
Mayamiko Nkoloma, Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority, pointed out that partnerships are crucial to ensuring the country's digital transformation is secure, inclusive, and adaptable to emerging technologies.
