en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Government Legislation of South Korea has launched a generative AI legal search system project, with document AI company Synapsoft joining the initiative. The project is led by Konan Technology, with Synapsoft and two other companies forming a consortium to participate, with a total contract value of 6.55 billion won.

The project is scheduled for completion by November 2027, aiming to overcome the limitations of the existing keyword similarity search and manually organized data at the National Law Information Center. Its core objective is to build a generative AI-based search environment that allows users to ask questions in natural language and accurately obtain comprehensive legal information, including regulations, precedents, and legal interpretations.

According to Synapsoft, the new generative AI search interface will include five key functions: AI-generated suggested questions, query rewriting, keyword extraction and reorganization, search results, and recommendations for content provided by the Ministry of Government Legislation. Search results will display a two-line overall summary, a one-line key point summary for each content category (including regulations, judicial precedents, and administrative rules), and direct links to the original source documents.

As part of the project, Synapsoft will analyze the structure of source legal documents and process files in various formats, including HWP, Microsoft Office documents, PDFs, and images. The company will use its Synap Doc Analyzer solution to extract table and matrix data and convert it into JSON datasets suitable for AI training and retrieval. To improve the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated responses, the system will also integrate Synapsoft's document viewer, enabling users to directly verify evidence supporting AI-generated answers within the original source documents.
