en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to the "Taiwan Mobile Broadband Forecast, Q1 2026" released by market research firm GlobalData, Taiwan's total mobile service revenue is expected to grow from $6.3 billion in 2025 to $6.9 billion in 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.8%. Rising 5G adoption, increased mobile data consumption, and telecom operators' investments in AI, cloud, enterprise digital services, and premium mobile plans are the key factors driving steady growth in this market.

From a revenue structure perspective, traditional voice services continue to decline, while mobile data is becoming the primary revenue engine. GlobalData expects mobile voice revenue to decline at a CAGR of 9.9% between 2025 and 2030, as users increasingly turn to OTT messaging and internet-based voice applications. During the same period, mobile data service revenue is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1%, driven by high-ARPU 5G plans and increased digital content consumption.
Kantipudi Pradeepthi, telecom analyst at GlobalData, noted that average mobile data usage per user per month is expected to rise from 35.8GB in 2025 to approximately 43.5GB by 2030. Video streaming, social media, cloud applications, and other bandwidth-intensive services will drive consumption growth.
Taiwan is already one of Asia's advanced 5G markets. GlobalData estimates that 5G subscribers accounted for the majority of mobile users in 2025 and expects their share to exceed 94% by 2030. Wider adoption of 5G smartphones, continued network expansion, and growing demand for faster mobile broadband will support this trend. For example, Taiwan Mobile extended its partnership with Nokia in July 2026 to further expand its nationwide 5G network.
As 5G penetration rises, Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and Far EasTone are focusing more on boosting ARPU and monetizing customers through premium 5G plans, AI, cloud, and enterprise services.
Market leader Chunghwa Telecom reported 13.34 million mobile subscribers in the first quarter of 2026, up 1.7% year-over-year; mobile service revenue grew 4.4% to NT$17.7 billion; and postpaid mobile ARPU, excluding IoT SIM cards, rose 3.6% to NT$573 as more users shifted to premium 5G plans. Chunghwa Telecom is investing in 5G, fiber broadband, enterprise ICT, cloud, and AI, while expanding digital services such as cloud gaming, streaming video, music, cybersecurity, and enterprise digital transformation.
Taiwan Mobile reported mobile service revenue growth of 3% in the first quarter of 2026, with 09x postpaid ARPU up 3% year-over-year; 5G revenue grew 9%, and 5G subscribers contributed 68% of total mobile service revenue, with over 44% of postpaid users already on 5G. The migration to 5G is also enhancing customer value: users upgrading from 4G to 5G saw monthly fees increase by approximately 50%, while contract renewals raised average monthly fees by 6%. Taiwan Mobile is investing in AI-driven customer service, cloud platforms, enterprise ICT, and nationwide 5G infrastructure to enhance commercialization capabilities and profitability.
Far EasTone reported mobile service revenue growth of 3% in the first quarter of 2026, marking its 20th consecutive quarter of growth. Its 5G penetration rate reached 48.4%, the highest among Taiwan's telecom operators. Customers upgrading to 5G saw monthly fees increase by 42%, and the postpaid subscriber churn rate fell to a record low of 0.68%. Far EasTone stated that it continues to maintain the highest ARPU in Taiwan's telecom market. Its ICT and fixed-line businesses achieved revenue growth of 12.8%, driven by demand for cloud, AI, smart city, IoT, and enterprise digital transformation projects. Far EasTone plans capital expenditure of approximately NT$9.6 billion in 2026, focusing on 5G infrastructure, enterprise connectivity, cloud services, and AI network capabilities.
Taiwan's telecom operators are increasingly expanding beyond traditional connectivity into areas such as AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, cloud gaming, streaming, enterprise ICT, IoT, private 5G, and digital entertainment. This transformation is becoming increasingly important as voice revenue declines. Taiwan's overall mobile market is expected to grow from $6.3 billion in 2025 to $6.9 billion in 2030, with mobile data revenue growing at a CAGR of 4.1% and voice revenue declining at a CAGR of 9.9%. With 5G subscribers projected to account for over 94% and average monthly data usage rising from 35.8GB to 43.5GB, the next phase of growth for Taiwan's telecom industry will rely more on 5G commercialization, higher ARPU, and expansion into AI, cloud, and enterprise digital services.
