en.Wedoany.com Reported - Guinea's Minister of Mines and Geology, Bouna Sylla, said on August 11 that the state-owned Nimba Mining Company will sell bauxite through monthly international tenders open to global commodity traders and mining companies.

Nimba CEO Patrice Lhuillier stated that the company also plans to identify a long-term trading partner to take a minimum annual volume under an agreement, with the remaining output sold through monthly spot tenders. The disclosed details represent the proposed sales arrangement; the timing of the first tender, supply volumes, pricing methodology, and the long-term trading partner have not yet been announced.
Nimba is wholly owned by the Guinean government. In August 2025, the Guinean government transferred Emirates Global Aluminium's related assets in the country to Nimba, giving it its first major operating asset. The company said it has exported over 5 million tonnes of bauxite since its inception, with an export target of 10 million tonnes for 2026. Its official roadmap sets a production target of 14 million tonnes for 2027.
Sylla said the company's expansion will rely primarily on reinvestment of operating profits. Over the next 2 to 5 years, Nimba also plans to advance an alumina refinery into the construction phase, develop a gold mine, and progress a base metals project to a bankable feasibility study stage.
