en.Wedoany.com Reported - Shinsung E&G, a South Korean industrial engineering and green energy company, has commissioned a new solar module production line in South Korea. Located at its Gimje plant in North Jeolla Province, the line has an annual capacity of 350 MW and utilizes n-type cell technology.

The Gimje plant is positioned as a core production base for the Saemangeum development zone, with a total plant capacity of 600 MW. A company spokesperson told pv magazine that there are currently no further expansion plans, and the remaining production lines will be considered for activation if domestic demand in South Korea grows.

CEO Lee Ji-sun stated that the Gimje plant is the only solar module manufacturing facility in North Jeolla Province, making the region a hub for high-power module production.

The new line will supply high-power modules to multiple project contracts the company has secured in the region, including an 80 MW ground-mounted project, a 74 MW project, and a 300 MW floating solar project in the Saemangeum development zone. The Gimje plant was built under an investment agreement between the company and the municipal government, and the company stated that the facility continues to create local jobs and drive industrial development.

The spokesperson noted that in addition to the Gimje plant, the company operates two other factories. The Yongin factory in Gyeonggi Province meets electricity demand through renewable energy and energy storage systems, producing cleanroom products such as fan filter units, with a daily output of 650 units at full capacity; the Jeungpyeong factory in North Chungcheong Province manufactures air conditioning equipment.

In November of last year, a 47.2 MW floating photovoltaic project supplied with Shinsung modules was connected to the grid in South Korea, described at the time as the country's largest floating solar array built alongside a multipurpose dam.
