en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 27, the Schwarz Group and the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania announced the Dummerstorf data center investment plan. The Schwarz Group plans to invest up to €5.6 billion by 2033 to build a data center with an initial capacity of 240MW in Dummerstorf, Rostock district. The project is still in its early stages, with the proposed site located in the Dummerstorf industrial park. Specific technical specifications have not yet been finalized, and the project implementation is still subject to relevant approvals.

Under the current plan, the data center's 240MW capacity will be used for both the Schwarz Group's own operations and the cloud computing and artificial intelligence services of Schwarz Digits. The Group plans to retain conditions for future expansion, increasing the project's grid connection capacity to 1GW by 2045. The proposed site has access to the 380kV extra-high-voltage grid, and renewable energy is planned to power normal operations.

The project's cooling system is planned to use ambient air for free cooling. The Schwarz Group has signed a letter of intent with Stadtwerke Rostock regarding waste heat utilization, with both parties planning to integrate the data center's waste heat into the local heating system. The Group has not yet finalized the specific configuration of cloud computing and AI chips.

Schwarz Digits is currently building another 200MW data center in Lübbenau, Brandenburg, Germany. That project, with an investment of €11 billion, has entered the construction phase and is scheduled to deliver its first facilities by the end of 2027. The Dummerstorf project represents another major data center investment by the Schwarz Group in Germany.
