ADM's 5,000-ton-per-year aquafeed fry plant in Tianjin officially begins production

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 16, ADM announced the official commencement of production at its Tianjin early-nutrition aquafeed plant. Located in Tianjin, the plant has a designed annual capacity of approximately 5,000 tons and mainly produces early-nutrition aquafeed for the hatchery and nursery stages of fish and shrimp, with product particle sizes ranging from 50 microns to 3 millimeters. The Tianjin plant is ADM's second production facility dedicated to feed for the hatchery and nursery stages of aquaculture, following its Belgium site, and has now entered commercial operation.

The plant uses cold micro-extrusion and spheronization processes to produce micro-particulate feed. ADM disclosed that this process is used to form micro-particles with high water stability, and the product particle specifications can be adjusted according to different fish and shrimp species and early growth stages. Products currently manufactured at the Tianjin plant include the MeM and MeM Prime series, with the MeM series mainly used for the late larval and nursery stages of fish and shrimp.

After commencing production, the Tianjin plant will serve both the Chinese and other Asia-Pacific markets. ADM will link its Tianjin production facility with its Asia-Pacific aquaculture R&D center in Vietnam; the Vietnam R&D center is responsible for fish and shrimp nutrition research, formula development, product validation, and application trials, while the Tianjin plant is responsible for local production of aquafeed fry feed. Customers from markets including China, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam attended the plant opening event.

The plant extends ADM's aquafeed product range in China to the hatchery and nursery stages. In addition to early-stage aquafeed fry feed, ADM's existing aquaculture nutrition business also covers specialty feed, feed ingredients, additives, probiotics, and premixes used in subsequent farming stages. The new capacity in Tianjin corresponds to early-nutrition feed production and is not a conventional grow-out fish feed production line.

The core production parameters disclosed for the Tianjin site include a designed annual capacity of approximately 5,000 tons and a product particle size range of 50 microns to 3 millimeters. ADM has not yet disclosed the total investment amount of the project, the number of production lines, single-line capacity, major equipment suppliers, plant area, or subsequent expansion plans.
