Germany's hep launches construction of 35.7MWp PV project with 20.3MWh energy storage

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 24, German renewable energy developer hep global announced that its Buckeläcker PV project in Eppingen, Baden-Württemberg, has completed the development phase and officially entered construction. The project has a PV installed capacity of 35.7MWp and covers approximately 30 hectares, making it hep global's largest PV project currently under development in Germany. Once completed, it is expected to generate approximately 38 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the annual electricity demand of about 10,800 households.

The project will also include a 10MW/20.3MWh battery energy storage system to store electricity when PV output is high and discharge it at opportune times based on electricity market prices and grid demand, improving the project's power consumption and operational flexibility. The electricity generated by the PV plant will be connected to the regional grid via the newly built Hohenstein substation.

Construction of the Buckeläcker project is being coordinated by ZaberSolar GmbH. hep global stated that the project has completed preliminary development, construction work has now begun, and it is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027. In addition to the PV module arrays, the works will also involve the energy storage system, on-site collection facilities, grid connection facilities, and supporting electrical infrastructure.

hep global is headquartered in Güglingen, Germany, and has long been engaged in the development of PV and battery energy storage projects, with operations covering markets including Germany, Italy, Poland, the United States, Canada, and Japan. The Buckeläcker project is located relatively close to the company's headquarters, and once invested and built, it will further expand hep's asset portfolio of large-scale PV and integrated PV-plus-storage projects in its home market of Germany.
