AT&T Signs Fiber Supply Agreement with Corning Worth Over $3 Billion

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, U.S. telecommunications carrier AT&T signed a multi-year supply agreement worth more than $3 billion with Corning, under which Corning will supply fiber and cable products needed for AT&T's network expansion. The products will be manufactured in the United States and used for AT&T's subsequent fixed broadband network construction. AT&T plans to expand high-speed internet service coverage to 60 million U.S. users by the end of 2030.

AT&T is currently expanding the scale of its U.S. fiber network deployment. Company data shows that AT&T fiber household users currently use an average of more than 1TB of data per month, approximately 5 times that of 2016; as streaming, cloud services, and artificial intelligence applications increase, the company expects average monthly household data usage to reach 2–2.5TB by 2030. This long-term procurement will provide fiber and cable supply for subsequent network construction.

This contract aligns with AT&T's previously announced U.S. communications infrastructure investment plan. AT&T announced in March of this year that it will invest more than $250 billion in the United States over the next five years to build and strengthen fiber, wireless communications, and related network infrastructure. The company currently serves more than 100 million users through fiber and wireless networks.

Corning will rely on its domestic U.S. manufacturing facilities to supply the relevant products. The company is expanding its U.S. fiber and cable manufacturing capacity, including production facilities located in North Carolina. Under the division of responsibilities determined by both parties, Corning is responsible for manufacturing fiber products in the United States, while AT&T's technicians are responsible for building and maintaining the communications networks connecting homes, businesses, and communities.

AT&T simultaneously uses fiber, wireless, and satellite networks to cover different areas, with satellite connectivity primarily used for approximately 2% of remote areas. This agreement does not disclose annual procurement volumes, specific cable models, or delivery schedules for each batch. AT&T stated that the financial outlook and capital allocation plan published in its second-quarter 2026 results already include the financial impact of this agreement.
