France's HyPrSpace Inaugurates First Rocket Factory, Targeting 100 Engines per Year

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 1, French commercial space company HyPrSpace inaugurated its first mass-production factory in Le Haillan near Bordeaux, dedicated to manufacturing rocket engine components and launch vehicle final assembly. The new factory covers approximately 7,000 square meters and is designed to produce about 100 engines per year, corresponding to a capacity of roughly 12 orbital launch vehicles planned by the company.

The factory consists of two main buildings, one for manufacturing basic components and the other for launch vehicle final assembly. HyPrSpace began production preparations at the new facility in August, and following its inauguration, the factory has started taking on production tasks related to Baguette One and subsequent orbital launch vehicles.

HyPrSpace is developing the Baguette One suborbital demonstrator and the subsequent OB1 orbital launch vehicle, both employing hybrid propulsion systems. An engine test conducted by the company in 2024 achieved an average efficiency of approximately 94%. Baguette One currently requires two more ground tests before its maiden flight.

The French Ministry of Armed Forces confirmed in September that Baguette One is scheduled to conduct its first suborbital flight in 2027 from the French Defence Procurement Agency's missile test range in Biscarrosse. The flight will be used to validate the propulsion and overall technical approach adopted by HyPrSpace's orbital rocket.

HyPrSpace previously completed a €21 million financing round in 2025, with funding sources roughly split between public and private capital. The company's current factory capacity plan corresponds to approximately 100 engines per year, and it plans to continue increasing full-vehicle production and launch frequency after subsequent orbital launch operations commence.
