Republic of the Congo Plans US$35 Million Investment to Build Poultry Farming Base
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Senegalese agricultural enterprise Sedima Group plans to invest approximately US$35 million (about 20.47 billion CFA francs) through its subsidiary Sedima Congo SA to build an integrated agricultural production base in the Nkouo area of Pool Department in the Republic of the Congo, combining grain cultivation, feed processing, poultry hatching, broiler farming, and slaughtering and processing. The project is planned to produce 10,800 tons of corn, 6,600 tons of soybeans, and 2,200 tons of broilers annually, and is currently in the financing advancement stage.

The project plans to use approximately 6,000 hectares of land for corn and soybean cultivation and to build feed production facilities, with a planned annual output of 25,382 tons of poultry feed. Supporting facilities include a hatchery, poultry farms, and a slaughtering and processing plant, forming a production system from raw material cultivation to poultry meat product processing.
According to the current plan, once the base reaches full production, it can annually produce approximately 5.3 million hatching eggs, 3.3 million day-old chicks, 80,000 reared laying hens, and 2,200 tons of broiler products. The corn and soybean output will be used for feed production, and the related poultry products will mainly supply the domestic market of the Republic of the Congo.
The project is intended to be financed through the company's own funds and loans from regional financial institutions. The financing arrangement disclosed by local media in the Republic of the Congo involves financial institutions such as the Development Bank of Central African States, BGFIBank, BSCA Bank, and LCB Bank. Among them, the Development Bank of Central African States plans to provide 5 billion CFA francs, BSCA Bank plans to provide 5 billion CFA francs, BGFIBank plans to provide 4 billion CFA francs, and LCB Bank plans to provide 1 billion CFA francs. The related financing is still being advanced, and there is no information that all funds have been fully disbursed.
Sedima Group was founded in 1976 and operates poultry hatching, feed production, broiler farming, and agricultural processing businesses in Senegal, and has gradually expanded into the markets of Mali and the Republic of the Congo. As early as 2014 to 2015, the group began studying entry into the poultry industry market of the Republic of the Congo, and the Nkouo project will adopt the integrated agricultural and poultry industry operating model it established in Senegal.
