ADNOC Gas Signs Agreement on Gas Supply for Power Generation in the Northern Region

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 4, ADNOC Gas, the gas company of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company of the UAE, signed a cooperation agreement with Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EtihadWE) to study future gas supply arrangements for new gas-fired power generation capacity in the northern region of the UAE. Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EtihadWE, attended the signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, ADNOC Gas plans to align its additional natural gas supply capacity with future power generation demand in the northern region and expand its domestic natural gas customer base in the UAE. EtihadWE is developing a power generation portfolio comprising gas-fired generation and renewable energy generation, and intends to secure long-term natural gas supply for new gas-fired power generation capacity through the cooperation between the two parties.

The cooperation involves ADNOC Gas's ongoing integrated gas growth plan. The plan includes the Rich Gas Development project, which will increase natural gas supply to domestic customers in the UAE by expanding gas processing capacity. The company is advancing investment in related processing facilities and supporting infrastructure to accommodate additional natural gas resources.

ADNOC Gas is simultaneously advancing the Estidama gas pipeline network project to expand and upgrade the existing gas transmission network. Under the company's existing plan, the total length of the pipeline network will be expanded from approximately 3,200 kilometers to more than 3,500 kilometers, with a focus on improving transmission connections between gas processing facilities and existing and new end users.

ADNOC Gas currently supplies approximately 60% of the UAE's commercial natural gas demand, with business customers in more than 20 countries. The cooperation will add potential demand from the power generation market in the northern region, creating a sales channel distinct from the company's existing domestic natural gas sales and international customer business.
