Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 25, The $260 million Colbún Solar Cell project in Camarones, Chile, has received 240 Tesla Megapack batteries at Puerto Arica’s port. Each 38.1-ton battery arrived via 11 Maersk and MSC ships. Specialized trucks with swan-neck ramps will transport them to the site, set for commissioning in mid-2026.
The project, managed by Colbún, offers four hours of energy storage capacity to support renewable energy integration. A Colbún spokesperson stated: “The arrival of the Tesla Megapack batteries at Puerto Arica is a critical advancement for the Colbún Solar Cell project, bringing us closer to delivering clean, reliable energy to the Camarones region.”
The initiative enhances grid reliability and supports Chile’s sustainable energy goals. The complex logistics underscore the project’s scale, positioning it as a model for solar energy storage and regional economic growth.
