Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 28, In September 2025, Argentina’s sunflower seed crushing fell by 18% to 0.4 million tons, according to analysts at German portal Oil World. The decline in crushing, combined with large export volumes of sunflower oil and meal, led to a sharp reduction in inventories. Sunflower oil stocks dropped to 77,000 tons, a six-month low and 39% below last year, while sunflower meal inventories declined to 135,000 tons from 173,000 tons a year earlier.

Argentina’s September sunflower meal exports reached their highest level in 25 years. For the 2024/25 marketing year (October-September), total meal exports increased to 1.37 million tons from 1.12 million tons in the previous year.

Soybean processing also rose, reaching 4.13 million tons in September, the highest for 11 months, compared with 3.91 million tons in September 2024. Since January, Argentina’s total oilseed processing volumes are estimated at 32 million tons, exceeding the 30.9 million tons processed in 2024 and marking a four-year high. The increase reflects strong international demand for processed products.

In September, Argentina shipped 2.15 million tons of processed products, up from 0.3 million tons a year earlier. China accounted for 96% of these exports, supporting increased soybean shipments of 6.3 million tons, up 42% from the previous year.

At the beginning of the month, Argentina abolished export duties on agricultural products to boost shipments and meet export targets. The grace period for the policy lasted only two days due to active foreign market purchases. For the season, Argentina’s oil and meal exports are projected to reach 40.4 million tons.

Overall, the country’s oilseed processing and export activity in September reflect strong global demand, particularly from China, while inventories of sunflower products declined significantly. This trend underscores Argentina’s position as a key supplier of vegetable oils and meals in international markets.
