Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 14, Maersk has opened a new ground freight station and integrated linehaul operations hub in Lake City, Georgia, located just south of Atlanta. The facility strengthens Maersk’s logistics coverage across the Southeastern US and integrates into its broader portfolio of end-to-end supply chain services.
Situated near Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and with direct access to Interstate 75, the hub lies within a key logistics corridor. Its proximity to major rail lines, regional distribution centres, and Atlanta industrial zones ensures seamless connectivity for both regional and national freight operations.
The Lake City facility features 105,000 square feet of operational space, 28 loading docks, a dedicated fleet of 15 trucks and 60 trailers, and supports Less-than-Truckload (LTL) services as well as linehaul operations. The hub is equipped with RF scanning and digital dimensioning technology to ensure shipment accuracy and provide real-time visibility.
Services at the facility include standard and specialised LTL, Expedited LTL, Full-Truckload (FTL), linehaul operations, Home and Store Delivery, and Dedicated Fleet management. Advanced routing intelligence and real-time visibility platforms are used to optimise operations, driving precision and transparency in logistics.
With over 65 facilities across North America, Maersk Ground Freight continues to expand its network through strategic infrastructure, advanced technology, and a customer-focused approach. The Lake City hub complements recent expansions, including the Dallas–Fort Worth Station and Hub, reinforcing Maersk’s commitment to integrated nationwide logistics excellence.
The hub supports Maersk’s strategy of connecting supply chains across the US, offering customers faster, more reliable, and fully visible end-to-end logistics solutions. The facility also integrates seamlessly with the company’s global network, enhancing operational efficiency and responsiveness.
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of Maersk, said: “The Lake City hub represents another step toward strengthening our national logistics footprint. By combining advanced technology, strategic location, and dedicated resources, we can deliver faster and more reliable services to our customers across the Southeastern United States.”
In parallel with network expansion, Maersk is also advancing logistics decarbonisation. Last week, Maersk and Unilever launched their first electric van in Saudi Arabia, supporting environmentally sustainable operations and contributing to the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
The Lake City hub highlights Maersk’s focus on combining digital tools, fleet modernisation, and strategic location planning to create a responsive and efficient logistics network. The integration of advanced technology ensures accurate shipment handling, optimised routing, and real-time monitoring, further strengthening Maersk’s position in the competitive North American logistics market.
This expansion underscores Maersk’s commitment to providing comprehensive, reliable, and sustainable supply chain solutions, empowering customers with improved operational control and visibility from regional hubs to global endpoints.
