Wedoany.com Report-Dec.18, Danish shipping company Norden has entered into a logistics agreement with Africa Oil Supply (AOS) in Guinea, set to begin operations in early 2026.

The arrangement involves Norden utilizing panamax vessels to transport bauxite from the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) loading facility to an offshore transhipment location. At this site, the material will be transferred to larger capesize vessels using floating cranes for onward shipment to destinations in China.

Norden CEO Jan Rindbo said he sees "significant potential" across the African continent.

This contract enhances Norden's involvement in mineral commodity logistics, building on its expertise in dry cargo transportation. The multi-stage process optimizes vessel usage by combining mid-size ships for coastal segments with larger carriers for long-haul routes, improving efficiency in bulk handling.

Guinea remains a key source of bauxite, supporting global supply chains for aluminum production. The agreement facilitates steady flow of this resource from mining operations to international markets.

Norden maintains an established footprint in Africa, with offices in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and Libreville, Gabon. The company recently broadened its regional capabilities through the acquisition of South African cargo operations from Taylor Maritime, incorporating a team in Durban.

These expansions enable closer collaboration with local partners and customers, allowing tailored freight solutions across diverse trade lanes. Norden's strategy emphasizes integrated services, combining vessel operations with port-related activities to meet evolving demands in commodity shipping.

The Guinea project represents a continuation of such efforts, focusing on reliable and scalable logistics for high-volume bulk materials. By engaging in transhipment arrangements, Norden contributes to streamlined export processes from West African origins.

Overall, the initiative aligns with growing trade volumes in mineral resources, providing essential maritime links between production sites and end users. As operations commence next year, the partnership is expected to support consistent delivery schedules while leveraging Norden's operational network across the continent.
