Leveraging its nuclear industry technological expertise, CGN Healthcare has successfully developed the "Hezhi®" Proton Therapy System. The core of this system is a cyclotron, which can accelerate protons to approximately 70% of the speed of light, generating a beam with energy up to 230 megaelectronvolts. Combined with a 360° rotating gantry, it enables precise irradiation from multiple angles. The entire system comprises nine major subsystems, 227 main equipment units, and approximately 155,000 components, demonstrating an extremely high level of precision manufacturing. Compared to traditional radiotherapy, proton therapy utilizes the physical characteristic of the "Bragg peak," significantly reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. It is particularly suitable for treating tumors in children and sensitive areas.
Faced with core technology blockades and high import costs, CGN collaborated with over 70 Chinese suppliers to establish a medical-engineering collaborative innovation platform. This achieved full-chain independent control and drove the upgrading of related industrial chains. Currently, the first set of the "Hezhi®" Proton Therapy System has officially rolled off the production line, and the localization efforts in China continue to advance.
