Neoliner Origin, ‘World’s First’ Commercial Sailing Roro Ship, Wraps up Second Sea Trials

Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 5, Neoliner Origin, the world’s first commercial sailing roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel, has successfully completed its second sea trials. The vessel is being built for French shipping company Neoline at the RMK Marine shipyard in Turkey. The latest round of tests focused on verifying numerous onboard systems, performing regulatory checks, and conducting adjustments. Importantly, the trials also allowed the vessel to sail under wind power for several hours, assessing its maneuverability and flexibility.

TB Marine and Ektank Sign for Chemical Tanker Newbuilds

Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 4, German shipowner TB Marine and Sweden’s Ektank have confirmed an order for 22,000 dwt methanol-ready chemical carriers, which will join the IceChem Tankers pool. According to IceChem, four new vessels have been contracted, with the first delivery scheduled for autumn 2026. Additional ships will follow at intervals of three months, with the final unit expected by summer 2027.

LNG-Powered Legend of the Seas Floated Out in Finland

The launch ceremony took place on August 29, 2025, after which the vessel was moved to the outfitting dock, where finishing work will continue for just under a year. Delivery to Royal Caribbean is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
