We supply high quality products, quick deliveries and competitive pricing to the petrochemical, chemical, petroleum, pulp & paper, food processing and primary metal industries. Hex Valve has a readily available selection of exotic alloys such as Hastelloy, Monel, Alloy 20, Titanium and ZIrconium, as well as the availability of products to meet the requirements of ANSI B31.1, ANSI B31.3 as well as NACE MR-01-75. Ray McMillian, a piping design engineer at CF Braun Company (a Alhambra Ca, Oil & Gas Refining and Production Engineering Company) started thinking about alternative piping/valving arrangements for the primary valve assemblies used as Root valves for direct and remote mounted Gauge Pressure and differential pressure instrumentation. These assemblies of heavy schedule carbon steel and high alloy pipe, with Class 2500 rated gate and globe valves, took up a lot of space and weight and significantly added to the total project cost. Eventually Ray and a friend of his, who owned a local machine shop, explored some alternatives. They designed and redesigned some alternatives by machining valve and bonnet cavity ports into readily available 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" round and square, and 1-7/8" HEXagonal barstock. Using a horizontal lathe and vertical mills the final design incorporated all of the features of the multiple pipe nipple and valve traditional assemblies into a compact male NPT or SW inlet barstock valve with multiple female threaded outlets. To my knowledge, they were the first commercially marketed barstock primary valves, and gained wide market acceptance in the oil and gas industry. Eventually Hex Valve was sold to Circle Seal Corporation. It was not a good fit as Circle Seals primary business at the time was aircraft and Hydraulic valves and components. In 1983, Gilbert Richards, CEO of Richards Industries in Cincinnati, Ohio, purchased the Hex Valve Company, and made it part of Richards Industries. Richards Industries is the parent company of three other distinct industrial product lines: Marwin Valve - ball valves and automated products Jordan Valve - regulators, sanitary valves, and control valves and Bestobell Steam Traps - steam traps and steam specialty equipment. Richards Industries meets customer needs with a wide range of new and proven manufacturing technologies. Complete in-house CNC machining, painting, assembly and testing, along with material traceability and extensive quality procedures assures that Richards Industries products will exceed your expectation.

From Roger Steele’s post-war laboratory in the basement of a suburban home, to the production of the lunar struts of the Apollo 11 lunar landing module, Hexcel has been synonymous with innovation. Hexcel was ready when the defense aerospace industry needed strong lightweight materials in 1946, and our company is still on the cutting edge by providing the most effective composites and prepregs available. Hexcel has also been an innovator in aviation engine manufacturing, and printed circuit board materials, while in the early seventies blazing new trails into the sports and recreational industries with its own line of Hexcel Skis. Hexcel no longer manufactures skis but its composite materials are the strength within todays leading brands. Hexcel will continue to produce innovative products that meet the needs of modern man. The House That Berkeley Built The company that came to be known as Hexcel was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area of Northern California, nurtured by a band of fraternity brothers from the University of California at Berkeley. In fact, the bonds that joined Hexcel’s co-founders – Roger C. Steele and Roscoe T. ‘Bud’ Hughes – were forged even earlier than college, on the football fields of Piedmont High School, and were reinforced by their stints in the Navy together during World War II. From football contests to fraternity rites to fighting for their country, it’s little wonder that Hexcel demonstrated a remarkable cohesion during its early, uncertain years. Indeed, the pioneering spirit and sheer persistence that have always epitomized Hexcel – or, as it was first known, California Reinforced Plastics – were the very qualities that distinguished its early leaders, or “The Big Five,” as they were affectionately known by those who worked for them. The Big Five were Roger Steele, Bud Hughes, Paul Ammen, Ken Holland and Ed Rule. Hexcel’s first management team, these veterans from the Bay area possessed a fortuitously well-matched and diversified set of talents. Steele furnished the visionary spirit and the unrelenting conviction that “honeycomb was and is the most efficient structure that man will ever achieve.” Bud Hughes housed and helped finance this vision and brought extraordinary sales skills to the task of purveying Steele’s inventions. “Bud could sell ice to the Eskimos,” Steele has said. Paul Ammen, the one member of the Big Five who did not attend Berkeley or study engineering, served as chief financial officer, having secured an economics degree from Stanford. A friend from Piedmont High, Ammen arrived in 1948, and none too soon. “I used to go to the bank every Friday to borrow money against receivables to keep the payroll checks from bouncing,” says Roger Steele. In addition to his economics background, Paul brought the good faith and financial skills of his mother, Vera, who financed many of Hexcel’s first offices. Ken Holland, a fraternity brother of Steele’s, joined the company in 1948 with Ammen, bringing with him a chemist’s expertise in resin and adhesive technology. That expertise quickly proved invaluable as Steele contended with the challenges of manufacturing fiberglass honeycomb for the company’s first contract with the military. Finally, Hexcel secured the managerial and production talents of Ed Rule, “the backbone of Hexcel for decades,” notes Roger Steele. Ed Rule, a late arrival to the inner circle, having met Steele after the war, took perhaps the biggest gamble on this fledgling outfit. He left a job as head engineer of an established tool and die company to join a company that was operating on a shoestring and struggling to keep up with sales. Rule quickly took over all manufacturing responsibilities, overseeing every aspect of plant construction and production design for the next 30-plus years.

We offer support for a wide range of makes and models of Load Tap Changer and Oil Circuit Breaker components to meet both domestic and international power industry needs, HVS consistently delivers high quality replacement components for most major and obsolete LTC and circuit breaker brands. In addition, HVS offers LTC failure analysis reporting, complete LTC overhauls, LTC maintenance training, reverse engineering and component redesign for enhanced performance. Founded in 1984, High Voltage Supply opened shop in Los Angeles, California, with the goal of being a leader in the supply of aftermarket components for oil circuit breakers. At that time, the company had ONE customer in California. Through consistent quality and delivery, High Voltage Supply built rapport and expertise with this one customer and began developing maintenance kits for both load tap changers and oil circuit breakers. As the product offering expanded, a buzz began to migrate through the industry about an alternative to Original Equipment Manufacturers’ components. HVS soon became the preferred provider to customers across the United States, developing numerous innovative solutions and designs that eliminate equipment problems or lead to improved performance. One of these innovations (developed in 1988), the Extra Low Resistance (ELR) contact design, reduces load tap changer failure due to carbon buildup (coking). HVS strategically relocated its facility to Dallas, Texas in 1990 to better serve our expanding client base. During this time, our capabilities continued to grow, as did our reputation of being an innovative leader. Our clients grew to include Original Equipment Manufacturers and electric providers in both Central and South America. Waukesha Electric Systems, Inc. acquired High Voltage Supply in October of 2000. This strategic acquisition expanded Waukesha’s offering to the industry and provided High Voltage Supply the resources to further expand its product line to include a line of Transformer Health Products® designed and manufactured to increase reliability and life of a transformer while lowering the cost of maintenance. In October 2002, resulting from our demand for quality and process-driven results, High Voltage Supply received ISO 9001:2000 certification. Today, High Voltage Supply is an industry leader and recognized specialist for the equipment we manufacture and support.
