It was an immediate success. In 1962, ten years after it was established, having gained a good share of the domestic market, the company opened its first office abroad, in Germany. In 1963 Marposs crossed the ocean to the United States. The main factory today is located at Auburn Hills, on the outskirts of Detroit, the American motor car capital. In 1970, after eighteen years of business, Marposs opened its first office in Japan. This was the starting point of the penetration into the Asian market, beginning with China and Korea in the mid-80s. Marposs is now present directly with its own sales and service organization in many countries and has a network of agents and distributors in other countries. After the year 2000 it began a program of acquisitions of solid, well-structured companies, each able to supply a top quality product in its field. As a whole, today the companies of Marposs group can supply a widest range of equipment for quality control in production environment.

The first product lines established by the Company were battery chargers and coated electrode welding machines. In 1958, an industrial castors division, ORA (Wheels and Accessories Shop) began producing and trading castors for the industrial and the home and office furnishing sectors. The two divisions were merged in 1963 giving rise to the present day company, CEBORA. At this time the group employed 40 people and the annual sales turnover was 2.000.000.000 Italian lira. Later, a sheet metal pressing plant was added to the gruop thus giving Cebora the ability to fabricate its own metal cases and cabinets for its welding machines and battery chargers. Ceboras expansion continued throughout the 1960s and the 1970s and at the beginning of the 1980s a new plant was built on a 50.000 square meters site in Cadriano di Granarolo (Bologna). Presently, both the production and the administrative functions are carried out at this site. The sheet metal pressing plant has also recently been modernized. In 1995 a new building has been added to the Cadriano plant, bringing its total surface to 52.000 square mt. The two divisions: Welding and industrial Castors, have a full organisational and operational independence. The groups euity capital is worth Euros 2.632.930 and group employment totals 200 people with an annual sales turnover of about 40 millions of Euros of which 70% is generated by exports.

A few years later (in 1964) the company’s name became VIMAS Srl. The business started in a few square meters in a workshop arranged inside of a private house. At the beginning the activity consisted of repairing devices used for oxyacetylene welding (pressure reducers, valves, etc.). A short time later, by purchasing the first machine tool (an old lathe which was built at the beginning of the century), the manufacturing of mechanical components was started. During this period a co-operation with Ernesto MACCHI, the present co-owner, was started. A few years later (1967) the activity was transferred to the new workshop of approx. 300 m2 located in Samarate. Here the manufacturing of mechanical components was extended also to other fields (hydraulic, aircraft and other components). Many other machine tools were added to the activity. This became the outline of the business, which corresponds to the present activity, i.e. to supply a service as complete as possible to the customers. As a matter of fact - further to the purchase of some grinding machines so to be able to carry out nearly all the jobs inside of the factory - other kinds of work were added, such as mounting and testing of high-precision components. These mechanical groups can be supplied ready for final mounting by the customer himself. In 1975 the setting up of a new factory building at Cardano al Campo was started. This became the present seat of the company. In 1976 the entire activity moved over to the new building, which has a floor surface of approx. 800 m2 In 1981 the first CNC turning machine was purchased. In 1984 the first vertical machining center, in 1993 the first CNC grinding machine and in 1995 a multi-pallet horizontal machining center were added to the machine tool park. During this time, a close co-operation with many companies in the machine tool business was started for supplying high-precision parts. Then manufacturing of components for machine-tool spindles was started. At present such parts are supplied separately to many customers in the machine-tool field. In 1991 manufacturing of complete cartridge-type spindles according to the customer’s drawing was started. After a short time, in order to satisfy the increasing need coming from the market, designing of cartridge spindles was started, so to offer a full service to the customers. Then in 1995 the company developed the first dressing device for grinding wheels by using a diamond roller. In 1996 the first high-speed spindle was developed. Following this, in 1999 the manufacturing of high-speed spindles with synchronous permanent-magnet motors for milling machines was started. In 2000 VIMAS Srl. became a member of UCIMU, the association of Italian machine tool builders.

Since then, the name of Brevini has become synonymous with planetary gear units. For more than 40 years now we have been developing and refining a technology of which the prominent attributes are a competitive price/performance ratio, compactness, modular design and reliability, all achieved even in extreme situations. From the very start we have had the world as our market, and today Brevini maintains a presence around the globe, with 24 subsidiaries and an extensive distribution network. The latest 10 years saw a significant increase in sales, from 86 to 284 million euros, also in jobs, from 470 to 1.000, and in output, which rose from 67.000 to 172.000 gearboxes per annum. Encouraged by this positive response from the market, we now aim to expand further worldwide and widen our range of offerings through acquisitions and agreements on the key power transmission markets. A further step has already been taken in this direction with the acquisition of PIV Drives GmbH, a German company with a long and historic tradition (founded 1928) in the field of mechanical power transmission.

In 1973, the factory was moved to Pescara. After my graduation in 1981 from industrial school, at a time when there was a great deal of work going on, I personally oversaw the production of each of our sandblasters with the care of an artisan, and the passion that was instilled in me from my father. De Laurentiis has been designing and building sandblasters for more than 40 years. We specialize in assisting customers in the production of special models and prototypes to meet their individual requirements. We are constantly looking for the better solutions for our machines, finished in all details to obtain high-level performances and extreme versatility to accommodate a diverse range of sectors. We make manual and automatic sandblasters, with vacuum or direct pressure systems, all rigorously complying with CE standards. Completely conceived, designed, and built in Italy in our facilities.

At first the company specialised in manufacturing various types of mechanical equipment, such as handling and conveying systems for bulk and packaged materials, industrial washing machines, and automatic harvesting machinery for agricultural products. Following these early craft-trade days, the company set out on its industrial phase, when, by an intense research, it rationalised and restricted its production fields, specialising in conveying systems for bulk and packaged materials. The companys tradition is based on the design and construction of mechanical conveying systems such as drag-chain, screw, belt and slat conveyors in a wide number of different sectors: disposal of industrial waste and sludge chemistry, sugar, and paper mechanical (conveyor for metallic chips and swarf). Toward the mid-80s, GOVONIs research division focused on the development of innovative equipment and systems for handling metallic chips and filtering of lubricating/cooling fluids. The results of this research - conducted in close co-operation with the Faculty of Engineering at Bologna University - led to the creation of a metallic chip conveying system which, due to its operational versatility, was covered by an international patent. This system is able to convey metallic chips of all morphologies (dust, short metallic chip and long tangled ribbons) and of all types (cast-iron, steel, brass, bronze, aluminium, etc..). The chief innovative concept of the system is based on the criterion of conveying metallic chips through a straight collector tube impelled by a rotating screw operating along the entire lenght of the tube. The conveying collector can operate in any position from horizontal to vertical, thus making it possible to build chip conveying systems either in underground channels or overhead (with the entire system above ground level). In this way, Govoni Handling Systems began producing a highly competitive and versatile product, which quickly won widespread favour in industrial sectors, especially where both traditional and automatic machine tools are employed (multi-spindle lathes, machining centres, transfer and special machines). As regards filtering of lubricating/cooling fluid, the results of the research led to building an on-board machine conveying and filtering system covered by an international patent. This is a highly ecological system, since makes it possible to avoid using filtering materials (such as paper, spunbonded fabric, etc...) with the resulting disposal problem. Govoni Handling Systems designs, builds and installs turn-key systems. The companys mission is to offer customers a high quality, peak reliability product. To satisfy this objective, the company produces all its strategic components in-house, protecting the relevant know-how with international patents. On top of that, the company has set up long-standing relations with contractors performing precision work with leading-edge technologies. The company implements in-house control on the quality of all components of its systems, focusing on the results obtained by heat treatment of wearing surfaces. Govoni Handling Systems practices a customer satisfaction policy, by totally involving its entire chain of suppliers in the companys activities. This means cooperation on certain technical details and respect of delivery times, in order to offer the best possible service to customers. The innovative chip conveying systems have enabled the company to play a leading role in various sectors, such as the automotive sector and automatic lathe workshops. Govoni Handling Systems has set up relations of mutual co-operation with several multinational corporations. Moreover, many significant foreign markets, such as Europe and United States, have shown interest in these types of product.
