It is a family owned business and operated by founder Ken Rempel and his sister Phyllis. K-Tec Earthmovers Inc. with a team of 30 personnel, take pride in manufacturing world class earth moving equipment. K-Tec supplies dealers and contractors in Canada, United States and Australia and has plans to expand to numerous other countries and continents. Ken Rempel grew up on a farm in Rosenort, Manitoba which is now headquarters for K-Tec Earthmovers Inc. Ken owned a construction company and moved dirt for years in the Red River Valley. After many hours of observing and assessing the production of many different scraper models, Ken was still not satisfied in the production capabilities. In the winter of 2000 – 2001, the first 24yrd K-Tec Earthmover was manufactured. More than 900 man hours were spent on the design and manufacture of this first K-Tec Earthmover and was field ready for the summer of 2001. Many trips back to the drawing board and welding shop to design new ideas is the base of the K-Tec Earthmover. In 2002, Ken continued to move dirt and during this time also designed and manufactured the first 26yrd K-Tec Earthmover. Initial production facilities were built in 2003 and the first three scrapers were manufactured and sold. Through this all, Ken continued to move dirt, constantly looking for ways to improve the design and operation of his earthmovers. K-Tec went into full scale production in 2004, producing and selling 44 scrapers. In 2005, K-Tec Earthmovers Inc. was awarded the Young Entrepreneur of Manitoba Award, as well as Fastest Growing Company in Manitoba Award. The future looks bright with thousands of opportunities. Our capabilities in large diameter and solid wall High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe and fittings have made the company distinctive in the world of plastic pipe. Industry Firsts Extensive R&D led KWH Pipe, in the 1960’s, to produce 16" diameter polyethylene pipe at a time when many considered large diameter polyethylene pipes a technical impossibility. In 1964, KWH engineers introduced a 24" pipe, which was then the largest in the world, and at a time when a 6" diameter plastic pipe was considered a large size. Today KWH Pipe produces 63" HDPE solid wall Sclairpipe® pipe and 120" lightweight, HDPE profile wall Weholite® pipe plus WehoGas piping for natural gas transmission. The company has also developed and patented a unique welding machine designed specifically for joining pipes using thermal fusion to assure leak-tight joints. In 1968 KWH Pipe built its first North American pipe plant making it the continent’s first manufacturer of large diameter, HDPE pipe. Today, KWH Pipe supplies Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Central and South America from two North American plants.
