On April 20, a variable-diameter circular pipe jacking machine, customized by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. for Dubai's rainwater drainage project, rolled offline in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, attended by representatives of the client from the Middle East. The equipment is planned to be used in the construction of Dubai's largest unified rainwater collection system project.

It is reported that this rainwater drainage project is a strategic infrastructure project for Dubai's future for the next 100 years. Centered on building an advanced rainwater management system, it aims to increase Dubai's rainwater drainage capacity by 700%. The construction faces multiple complex challenges: the project is located in a high-temperature environment in the Middle East, with complex underground conditions, including issues such as large burial depth, high water pressure, and long-distance excavation. Additionally, the construction diameter needs to be switched according to the requirements of different road sections during the construction process, placing high demands on the adaptability, stability, and advancement of the construction equipment.

To address the aforementioned construction challenges, the technical team of China Railway Hi-Tech specifically developed this variable-diameter circular pipe jacking machine, whose design fully meets overseas market standards. To meet the construction requirements of different road sections of the project, the equipment can flexibly switch between two construction diameters of 4.78 meters and 4.28 meters according to construction needs, enabling one set of equipment to adapt to the excavation of tunnels with two different diameters. This not only improves the economic efficiency of equipment application but also enhances its scenario adaptability.
As the project progresses, it will enhance Dubai's flood control and drainage capabilities, address the challenges posed by climate change, promote the resource utilization of rainwater, and help build a resilient and livable city locally.
