The 16.8MV ultra-high-voltage impulse voltage generator independently developed and manufactured by China Huagao Electric (Hubei) Co., Ltd. has set a new world record in the industry, making it the impulse voltage testing equipment with the highest parameters and most advanced performance globally.

Impulse voltage testing equipment is key equipment used to simulate transient overvoltages that may occur in power systems (such as lightning impulses, switching impulses, etc.) to test the insulation performance of electrical equipment. It plays an extremely important role in the full-chain quality control of power equipment, as well as in emerging fields such as ultra-high voltage, aerospace, rail transit, and new energy, and can be regarded as the "health examiner" of the high-voltage power sector.

According to Zhou Ping, General Manager of Huagao Electric, compared with 7MV-class large-scale impulse testing equipment both domestically and internationally, Huagao's domestically produced equipment not only doubles the voltage level but also leads comprehensively in testing accuracy, energy carrying capacity, and working condition adaptability. It can accurately simulate natural lightning impulse conditions in ultra-high-voltage and extra-high-voltage scenarios, providing key support for the ultimate withstand voltage and lightning resistance testing of ultra-high-voltage power equipment, aviation electrical equipment, and high-voltage power apparatus, filling the global technological gap in ultra-high-voltage impulse testing equipment.

Currently, China has built the world's largest AC-DC hybrid power grid with the highest voltage level and the largest new energy grid-connected capacity. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will vigorously advance the construction of ultra-high-voltage projects to build a high-quality new-type power grid and new-type power system. As the "health examiner" ensuring the safe operation of the power grid, the importance of independent and controllable impulse voltage testing equipment is becoming increasingly prominent. It is reported that Huagao Electric has independently developed its complete equipment measurement and control system based on the C++ underlying language, achieving 100% independent controllability from underlying code, logic algorithms, to functional modules. This not only breaks the industry's mainstream reliance on third-party general-purpose platform software such as LabView, but also creates an extremely simple, intelligent, and modern human-machine interaction interface, with significantly improved equipment performance.

It is worth mentioning that in terms of safety protection and signal acquisition technology, its proprietary fiber-optic digital acquisition solution has solved a technical challenge that has long plagued the global high-voltage testing industry. Currently, the vast majority of high-voltage equipment manufacturers both domestically and internationally use traditional oscilloscopes to acquire high-voltage signals, requiring signal measurement cables to be directly connected to the control room. This can easily introduce grounding interference from high-voltage equipment into the control area, causing signal interference and data distortion, and posing serious electromagnetic compatibility hazards as well as electric shock safety risks to personnel.

"We have innovatively adopted on-site digital acquisition plus fiber-optic signal transmission technology, placing high-precision digital acquisition equipment in high-risk testing areas, completing high-voltage signal acquisition and conversion on site, converting electrical signals into optical signals, and transmitting them losslessly to the control room through insulating fiber optics," Zhou Ping said. This completely isolates high-voltage electromagnetic interference and high-voltage grounding hazards, fully eliminating risks of control room equipment failure and personnel safety.
