At the 32nd SMM Hamburg Maritime Trade Fair in Germany, Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd., under China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, grandly unveiled three highly competitive innovative products: a floating nuclear-powered artificial intelligence data platform, a new-generation Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC), and a new-generation 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container vessel (KUN 2.0).
Floating Nuclear-Powered AI Data Platform
Seizing the New Track of Offshore Computing Power

In response to the surge in demand for computing power and electricity driven by the explosive growth of the global AI industry, Jiangnan Shipyard has taken a forward-looking approach to offshore computing infrastructure and officially launched the floating nuclear-powered AI data platform.
During this exhibition, this vessel type was awarded the Approval in Principle (AiP) certificate by Bureau Veritas (BV). Meanwhile, Jiangnan Shipyard signed a joint development cooperation agreement with Lloyd's Register (LR) of the UK, marking that this future concept is accelerating its transition into engineering reality.
Nuclear-Powered, Stable and Clean
It adopts a mature pressurized water reactor type, driving two steam turbines for combined power generation, providing continuous, reliable, and zero-carbon power assurance for the entire vessel and the data center;
Modular AIDC, Flexible Deployment
The AI computing data center (AIDC) adopts a modular design, centrally arranged at the stern, with the modular design facilitating construction and expansion; the entire vessel can be towed by tugs to designated docks, or moored at multiple points offshore for long-term operation, achieving data interconnection with onshore users via high-speed optical cables;
Comprehensive Living Support
AIDC operations and maintenance personnel and vessel platform staff reside in the forward superstructure, which is equipped with a helicopter landing pad, establishing a comprehensive offshore emergency and logistics system.
New-Generation VLEC
Redefining Efficient and Clean Transportation

The newly launched VLEC by Jiangnan Shipyard achieves leapfrog upgrades in cargo tank capacity, fuel consumption, boil-off rate, and cargo adaptability.
In terms of design philosophy, this vessel type innovatively applies AI intelligent performance optimization technology, constructing a high-dimensional parametric hull model, achieving a transformative shift in hull form design from "experience-driven" to "data-driven"; in the manufacturing stage, it is equipped with a dedicated intelligent manufacturing production line, introducing automated equipment such as friction stir welding stations and welding robots, ensuring high-precision construction of aluminum alloy tanks. Meanwhile, this vessel type integrates the JNIS intelligent system independently developed by Jiangnan Shipyard, adopting a ship-shore cloud collaborative architecture, supporting applications such as assisted navigation, intelligent operation and maintenance, and energy efficiency management, empowering cost reduction and efficiency enhancement; its principal dimensions are adapted to the Houston Ship Channel and mainstream global liquefied gas terminals, offering strong operational flexibility.
In terms of green and low-carbon performance, the vessel integrates six major technical systems: hull form optimization, energy-saving devices, shaft generators, ethane clean fuel, low boil-off rate containment system, and intelligent navigation management and control, comprehensively reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, providing a Jiangnan solution for global clean energy transportation.
Larger Cargo Tank Capacity, Lower Fuel Consumption
Through the optimization of hull form design from "experience-driven" to "data-driven," navigation resistance is significantly reduced, and energy efficiency performance reaches new heights;
Lower Boil-Off Rate
Equipped with the PnF-COMBi® insulation system independently developed by Jiangnan Shipyard, the boil-off rate is significantly reduced;
Broader Cargo Adaptability
In addition to ethane, it is also compatible with ethylene, ammonia, and various other liquefied gases, enabling multi-purpose use with extremely high operational flexibility;
Multiple Options, Flexible Configuration
The new vessel is equipped with the advanced BrilliancE® Type B cargo tank, while offering customers two material options: aluminum alloy and 5% nickel steel
New-Generation 16,000 TEU Dual-Fuel Container Vessel (KUN 2.0)
Leading with Forward Design — Lighter, More Economical, Greener

Based on the forward design philosophy, Jiangnan Shipyard has comprehensively upgraded the 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container vessel (KUN) and launched the KUN 2.0 version. This vessel type has obtained the AiP certificate from BV.
Design Iteration, Key Breakthroughs
Through multi-scheme optimization of general arrangement and fluid performance, while essentially maintaining cargo capacity, further reductions in lightweight and fuel consumption are achieved, with focused in-depth development on key technologies such as engine room layout restructuring, hull structure lightweighting, hatch cover and lashing system upgrades, and electromechanical integration optimization, effectively reducing lightweight and comprehensively enhancing the vessel's overall operational economy;
Green Carbon Reduction, Implemented at the Source
Balancing operational benefits with environmental goals, it leverages hardcore technological innovation to support the low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry, providing a more competitive Jiangnan solution for global container trade.
