This vacuum load switch is used in pole top situation, with the operation function of manual and electric. In adopts vacuum for arc extinction, N₂ gas for external insulation, internal series isolation knife and interrupter. It has high insulation, the internal built-in zero sequence and short circuit to protection current transformer, and the inner (or outer) voltage transformer can supply the operational power. The whole structure is free maintenance equipment.

The switch consists of two parts: FZW28-12 vacuum load switch and detection part. The switch has fatal detection function, protect control function and communication function. This switch is installed in the 10kV overhead line, and it can cut off single-phase earth fault and insulate phase fault automatically. It also can be used in the demarcation point in 10kV distribution line, and satisfactory T junction in branch line.
