The Visibility Lidar is based on the Mie scattering detection principle. The system emits 1064nm laser and receives backscattered signals from atmospheric aerosols, clouds, etc. Through relevant algorithms, it retrieves atmospheric visibility, extinction coefficient and other information. Compared with traditional forward scattering or transmission methods, the Visibility Lidar can obtain high spatiotemporal resolution visibility profiles and cloud base height data on the detection path in real time, and is widely applied in port sea fog and highway fog patch monitoring, low-altitude visibility monitoring and early warning, etc.
