The rotating adjustable joint is connected to the downhole tool or pipe string and lowered. When the downhole tool or pipe string cannot or is not allowed to be swivel-connected at the wellhead, the swivel joint is used to connect the upper pipe string with the bottom pipe string. The swivel joint is locked with a key after connection, so that torque can be transmitted at any position.
