The device uses a measurement-type liquid level sensor, battery power supply, and low-power acquisition mainboard to periodically collect sensor data. Data is transmitted wirelessly via ZigBee to monitor the water depth in cable ducts.

The liquid level sensor measures the water level based on the principle of static water pressure. When the sensor is fixed at a certain point underwater, the pressure of the water column above the point, plus the elevation of that point, can indirectly determine the water level.
