Wedonay.com Report on Mar 10th, UK-based flexographic prepress service provider MPH recently installed a Shine LED light kit on its Vianord flexographic plate exposure unit to optimize its production workflow. MPH Director Ian Runacres noted: "This equipment, supplied by Clarkson Services, has delivered significant improvements, with exposure speeds increasing by an average of 30% while ensuring more predictable plate behavior. Currently, over 80% of plates are exposed using the Shine LED lights."
MPH had been planning the transition to LED technology for some time. Ian Runacres emphasized: "In flexographic printing, reducing variables is more critical than simply chasing speed. Investing in the Shine LED light kit aims to guarantee repeatability, lower printing risks, and meet our customers' demands for plate consistency."
Compared to traditional fluorescent technology, LED lights provide more stable and uniform exposure results and do not degrade over time. Ian Runacres added: "We used to replace fluorescent bulbs annually, whereas LED lights require no warm-up time and can be switched on and off instantly, saving both time and energy consumption."
The Shine LED light kit is supplier-neutral, offering MPH greater flexibility in choosing exposure frames, including compatibility with second-hand equipment. The kit includes LED UVA lights, pre-wired mounting brackets, and installation guides, with Clarkson Services handling the specific installation work.
Headquartered in Manningtree, Essex, UK, MPH specializes in the narrow-web packaging market. Since its management buyout in 2020, the company has invested over £750,000 in capital expenditures, covering the Shine LED light kit, a second Esko CDI imaging device, a new flexo plate processing line, and software upgrades. These initiatives aim to enhance the technical capabilities and production efficiency for its narrow-web packaging customers.
