en.Wedoany.com Reported - Climate Fund Managers and Ampyr Energy have commissioned the Somasamudra Phase I solar photovoltaic plant in the Ballari district of Karnataka, India, with an installed capacity of 67 MWp.

This project is the fourth plant delivered by the Ampyr renewable energy platform and is financed by the EU-backed Climate Investor One fund. The plant is expected to generate over 118 GWh of electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 97,000 tons. The project supplies renewable energy to commercial and industrial customers through an open access model.

During construction, Somasamudra Phase I created around 250 jobs, and approximately 45 employees will be retained long-term during the operational phase. Jirong Lim, Investment Director at Climate Fund Managers, stated: "The commissioning of Somasamudra Phase I highlights the advantages and replicability of the platform approach, efficiently advancing projects from early-stage development to operation." He added: "As the fourth project delivered by the Ampyr platform, it also marks the first project built using recycled capital, demonstrating how we can deploy capital more efficiently and scale up investment in India's commercial and industrial renewable energy sector."

Rajkumar Roy, CEO of AMPYR India, said: "Somasamudra Phase I embodies the strength of our partnership with Climate Fund Managers and our shared commitment to providing renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers in India. The successful commissioning of this project is a testament to our ability to execute projects rapidly while maintaining high standards in development, construction, and operations."

It is reported that Ampyr Energy has over 500 MW of operational and under-construction capacity in India, along with a larger project pipeline.
