India Adds a Record 24.5GW of Solar Power Capacity in 2024

Wedoany.com Report-Jan 29, In 2024, India added about 24.5GW of solar capacity, the highest recorded capacity compared to any previous year.
This is according to the latest report released by JMK Research and Analytics, which showed circa 3.4GW of wind capacity was also added in 2024, a nearly 1.21 times increase in wind installations compared to 2023.
The report states that with these additions, India’s total installed renewable energy (RE) capacity reached 209.44GW as of December 2024.
Solar energy accounts for approximately 47% of the total RE segment, making it the most significant contributor among renewable sources.
