Wedoany.com Report-Feb 19, Singapore was urged to implement efforts to enhance its nuclear energy capabilities amidst challenges in hydrogen utilisation.

In its analysis of the Singapore 2025 budget, RHB noted that it “still needs to take steps to systematically build up capabilities” in nuclear energy.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said in his budget speech that there are inherent challenges in the production, storage, and transportation of hydrogen, which makes it hard to scale up in a commercially viable manner.

To address this, Singapore plans to study the potential deployment of nuclear energy in Singapore.

RHB noted that Singapore has signed agreements with the US on civil nuclear cooperation and is also working on similar cooperation with other countries that have capabilities and experience in civilian nuclear power, especially small modular reactors.

The government has also injected additional capital into the Future Energy Fund.
