en.Wedoany.com Reported - Office interior design consultancy OP has recently completed the fit-out of CBRE's new office at 3 Chamberlain Square, Paradise Birmingham. Spanning 16,549 square feet, the office is located in one of the city's most architecturally distinctive new buildings. After CBRE decided to relocate from its former Temple Row office, OP provided end-to-end support—from site selection and design development to final delivery.
The design team drew heavily from the building's own character: the terracotta façade, fluted cladding, and iconic OGEE arches are reinterpreted throughout the interior. Terracotta tones, arched forms, and tactile finishes establish a clear visual connection between inside and out, giving the office a strong sense of place that is closely tied to Birmingham's urban identity. The scheme roots CBRE's workplace philosophy locally, creating a unique space that is a perfect match for both the city and the building.
The workspace features nine meeting rooms, three double focus rooms, eight phone booths, and a dedicated Clientology client engagement space—designed with deliberate visual permeability towards Chamberlain Square. Wellbeing is embedded throughout the layout, with a dedicated mother's room and a separate wellness room.
Sustainability is central to the project's narrative. Notable environmental highlights include a sculptural tree 3D-printed from HS2 clay, an Altrock reception desk made from recycled waste marble, bespoke terrazzo worktops handcrafted from locally sourced recycled materials in Birmingham, and cork flooring. Recycled leather and Impact Cotton acoustic panels, along with cradle-to-cradle certified carpet tiles, form a rigorous material palette. Much of CBRE's existing furniture was retained, refurbished, and reinstated, significantly reducing embodied carbon emissions during the fit-out process. Custom signage throughout the space tells the story behind each material and craft, allowing employees and visitors to tangibly experience the thinking behind the design. The building has achieved a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating and WELL certification, and is also the first in Birmingham to meet the NABERS UK 5-star design review target rating.
Claire Stant, Creative Designer at OP, said: "Our goal was to create a workspace that truly belongs to Birmingham—drawing inspiration from the building's architecture, the city's character, and the local culture. We are incredibly proud of the result."
Will Ventham, Head of CBRE's Birmingham and Midlands office, said: "The new office has truly exceeded our expectations. OP has created a space that reflects both Birmingham and our business—full of thoughtful details that our team strongly identifies with. Feedback from employees and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn't be prouder of the outcome."
