en.Wedoany.com Reported - Singtel is partnering with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) to launch a multi-year AI transformation plan aimed at enhancing its capabilities in AI-driven operations, digital infrastructure, and customer platforms.
As a government-backed initiative driving Singapore's digital transformation, DISG will provide financial support to the telecom company to strengthen foundational AI capabilities, including recruiting and training AI talent, and building technical and governance frameworks. DISG will also advise Singtel on how to support enterprises in deploying AI solutions. Singtel becomes the first telecom company to receive DISG support.
The first phase of the partnership focuses on Singtel Singapore. The telecom company will work with DISG to develop an operational roadmap to become an AI-native telecom company. This includes building and deploying agentic AI and machine learning capabilities across all of Singtel's local business units. Singtel plans to train 3,000 employees in Singapore as AI practitioners and an additional 300 as AI experts, out of approximately 13,000 employees on the island nation.
Singtel also revealed plans to strengthen its core network architecture, aiming to move toward a more autonomous network that leverages AI to predict potential network issues, optimize performance, and enhance resilience and robustness in complex environments.
Ng Tian Chong, CEO of Singtel Singapore, stated that Singtel has embedded AI into every touchpoint of its business, committed to building more autonomous and resilient networks, improving customer experience through agentic AI, and enabling enterprises to deploy AI securely via intelligent digital platforms. He noted that the partnership with DISG reinforces the company's commitment not only to transforming its own operations but also to helping enterprises and industries unlock new value, enhance productivity, and innovate with confidence. DISG's support will help accelerate this transformation while strengthening Singapore's broader digital ecosystem.
This marks Singtel's latest step into sovereign AI, just months after its sovereign AI cloud division RE:AI announced a partnership with French AI developer Mistral to jointly develop AI solutions. Singapore's transformation efforts are part of a broader industry shift toward AI-native migration.
