Wedoany.com Report-Mar 17, Finnish construction company YIT has initiated the construction of the Asunto Oy Espoon Seaside project, a 15-storey residential building in Keilaniemi, Espoo, Finland.

The construction will be exclusively powered by renewable electricity.

The project, valued at approximately €50m ($54.51m), is set to offer 83 homes and is scheduled for completion by 2026’s end.

The Espoon Seaside apartments will range from 48m² to 118.5m², providing residents with shared workspaces, a lounge, sauna facilities, and terraces with sea views.

Specifically, ground-floor units will incorporate sea-facing yards while other select apartments will offer sea views.

Workspaces measuring 42m² to 49m² will be available on the ground floor, adjacent to the Waterfront Walkway.

In addition to living spaces, the development will feature a children’s playground, a green roof waste room, and a parking hall with 19 spaces equipped with electric vehicle charging points.

The apartments offer underfloor heating and cooling linked to the district heating network, along with the infrastructure for air-source heat pumps.

Ceiling radiator panels will be available at selected homes. Water conservation is encouraged through apartment-specific monitoring of cold and hot water usage.

Sustainability measures extend to the construction process, where only renewable electricity will be used, and at least 75% of the site’s construction waste will be sorted for recycling.

YIT senior vice-president Harri Isoviita said: “It’s great to be able to launch YIT’s self-developed project in the Helsinki metropolitan area, with great transport connections.”

The Seaside building will be situated among Keilaniemi’s modern office buildings.

Keilaniemi boasts transport links, including a metro station and the Jokeri Light Rail terminus.

Earlier this month, YIT began the first phase of a major housing project in Kladno, the Czech Republic, in collaboration with local housing cooperative BD Portti Kladno.
