LG Electronics CEO and President Ryu Jae-chul disclosed on his LinkedIn channel on June 26 that after further discussions between the two companies in the United States, they have concretized the cooperation areas and strategic partnership in the field of physical AI.
Ryu stated that through specific discussions—from utilizing the Nvidia platform to establish LG's data factory and advancing LG Electronics' AI data center cooling solutions, to creating synergies based on LG's robot mass production system—both sides are accelerating the construction of the physical AI ecosystem. LG Electronics views the pure data accumulated from global customer touchpoints through its smart home platform "ThinQ," as well as its own manufacturing capabilities, as differentiating factors. Ryu revealed that LG Electronics is acquiring precision manufacturing data generated from 31 production facilities across 14 countries, with manufacturing and production data alone amounting to 770 TB (terabytes) over the past decade, equivalent to the storage capacity for approximately 197,000 high-definition movies.
Ryu emphasized that understanding the interactions between humans and various spaces—such as homes, commercial spaces, industrial sites, and mobility—and translating them into products and services is also a competitive advantage in the physical AI era. He noted that by designing and operating diverse spaces including homes, commercial facilities, factories, and mobility, LG Electronics has maintained continuous customer touchpoints for decades, accumulating deep insights into customer lifestyles, device usage patterns, movement routes within spaces, and energy usage methods. Additionally, LG Electronics' component business competitiveness and manufacturing capabilities are listed as key differentiators. Earlier this month, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, and agreed to solidify the partnership, strengthening mid- to long-term cooperation across the entire AI ecosystem—including physical AI, AI infrastructure, and future mobility—as well as jointly developing reference robots (development standards). On June 22, executives from major LG Group affiliates also visited Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, USA, to discuss follow-up cooperation measures with Nvidia executives.
