en.Wedoany.com Reported - LG U+ (LG유플러스) announced on the 28th that it has signed a business agreement with power equipment specialist GNC Energy (지엔씨에너지) to stably build and operate AI Data Centers (AIDC). The two parties will focus on resolving uncertainties in the supply of power infrastructure equipment and laying the foundation for stable operations.
Recently, surging demand for AI infrastructure has led to tight supply of power equipment such as emergency generators. While equipment could be delivered within months after ordering in the past, the lead time has now extended to nearly two years, making power equipment a key variable affecting the construction progress of AI data centers. As an AI infrastructure with extremely high stability requirements, AIDC must guard against sudden events such as power supply interruptions. Equipping emergency generators optimized for AIDC is a crucial step in ensuring operational stability.
Under the agreement, the two parties will fully cooperate on emergency generators for LG U+'s Paju AIDC currently under construction in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, as well as all future AIDC-related power infrastructure promoted by LG U+. The collaboration also includes enhancing the timely response capability for core equipment and standardization work considering capacity expansion and scaling.
LG U+ stated that this partnership is expected to further enhance its 99.999% level of AIDC non-stop operation capability, which it has maintained over the past 27 years.

Jeong Sook-kyung (정숙경), head of LG U+'s AIDC business, pointed out that for AI data centers, a single power outage could lead to large-scale service failures, and the stability of power infrastructure directly determines competitiveness. The company will start by stably securing core equipment to enhance the supply competitiveness of AI infrastructure and continuously optimize the foundation for stable data center operations.
Ahn Byung-chul (안병철), CEO of GNC Energy, stated that amid the rapid growth in demand for power equipment in AI data centers, the partnership with LG U+ helps address market uncertainties. The company will expand its collaboration with LG U+ based on its accumulated capabilities in the data center power infrastructure sector.
