en.Wedoany.com Reported - DE-CIX, the world's leading internet exchange operator, has announced the deployment of its first AI-ready internet and cloud exchange center in Stockholm, Sweden, aimed at strengthening digital connectivity between North America and Northern Europe. This deployment expands DE-CIX's presence in the Nordic region, providing lower latency and higher resilience interconnection services for enterprises, cloud providers, content platforms, and network operators on both sides of the Atlantic, while enabling access to the evolving AI ecosystem.

DE-CIX deploys first AI-ready cloud and internet exchange center

This deployment comes amid strengthening technological cooperation between the United States and Sweden. In May this year, the two countries signed the Technology Prosperity Deal to deepen collaboration in areas such as AI, connectivity, advanced manufacturing, and quantum technology. While Sweden's economy is comparable in size to a U.S. state, Swedish companies support 280,000 jobs in the U.S., with total foreign direct investment in the U.S. reaching $119 billion in 2024, making Sweden one of the fastest-growing sources of foreign direct investment in the U.S. economy.

DE-CIX has been operating in the Nordic region since 2023, with existing internet exchange centers in Denmark (Esbjerg and Copenhagen), Norway (Kristiansand and Oslo), and Finland (Helsinki). Expanding to the Swedish capital, the Stockholm exchange center will launch in September 2026, with orders accepted from today. The exchange center is AI-ready from inception, integrating AI‑IX capabilities to enable high-performance, low-latency interconnection between networks, clouds, and data-driven platforms, while meeting demands for resilience, scalability, and digital sovereignty. Customers can access internet peering and cloud interconnection locally, improve application performance, optimize hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, and gain secure connectivity to international networks and platforms.

The new internet exchange center will be integrated into DE‑CIX's existing Nordic and global interconnection ecosystem, providing optimized connectivity to major digital hubs in Europe and beyond. Operated by DE‑CIX International GmbH, the center will be deployed across multiple data centers in the Stockholm metropolitan area. DE‑CIX CEO Ivo Ivanov stated that Stockholm, with over 30 data centers, is a major hub in the Nordic region, handling 55% of total Nordic internet traffic and representing the largest colocation market in the area, supported by more than 125 active network providers. By expanding AI-ready internet and cloud exchange centers in Stockholm, DE‑CIX brings interconnection services closer to customers in Sweden and the broader Nordic region, while seamlessly integrating into the global ecosystem, enabling enterprises, networks, and cloud providers to confidently build and scale AI-driven applications.

DE‑CIX operates a carrier and data center-neutral interconnection ecosystem spanning five continents, over 60 locations worldwide, connecting more than 4,000 networks. The expansion to Stockholm reflects the company's long-term strategy to extend its reach through future-proof, AI-capable internet exchange centers, combining local proximity with global coverage.
