en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Qantas Group plans to launch several new routes by the end of this year through its Qantas and Jetstar airlines, with Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) set to welcome its first commercial scheduled flights. According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, the new routes cover both domestic Australian destinations and multiple international locations.

Jetstar will operate three domestic routes from the new airport. On October 25 at 11:00 AM, Jetstar flight JQ362, operated by an Airbus A320, will depart from Western Sydney International Airport for the Gold Coast (OOL), with four weekly flights. Additionally, the airline will launch routes to Melbourne Airport (MEL) and Brisbane Airport (BNE), with two daily flights to Melbourne (up to 14 weekly services) and three weekly flights to Brisbane.

Known for pioneering new markets, Jetstar will become the first airline to operate scheduled flights at Western Sydney Airport. The airport has no curfew and offers ample slot capacity for operational expansion. All three routes will use Airbus A320 aircraft, with services commencing from October 25.

In addition to domestic routes, Jetstar will launch three new international routes. From August 25, the airline will operate flights between Melbourne and Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with three weekly services capable of carrying up to 100,000 passengers annually. This route will directly compete with SriLankan Airlines, and Jetstar will become the only Australian carrier operating flights between these two cities. Following modifications to its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, the airline can now operate flights of up to 16 hours.
